Structural Adhesive
Structural Adhesive Introduction
Structural adhesive is a high-strength, high-durability adhesive, mainly used in the fields of construction, automobiles, aerospace, ships, etc., as an auxiliary materials for bonding metal, glass, concrete, composite materials and other load-bearing or force-bearing structural parts. Unlike traditional glue, structural adhesive has excellent mechanical properties, weather resistance and fatigue resistance, and can replace or partially replace traditional connection methods such as welding and riveting. While ensuring structural strength, it also provides a more flexible auxiliary material application solution for engineering connections.
Application of 3 Types of Structural Adhesives
Silicone: resistant to aging, good waterproofness, high elasticity, is a super high temperature resistant structural adhesive, adaptable to thermal expansion and contraction (-60℃~250℃) or vibration. Commonly used for sealing and structural bonding of building curtain walls, doors and windows, etc.
Epoxy resin: Structural epoxy adhesive is a high-strength, high-toughness adhesive that can be used in a temperature range of -60~120℃. It has excellent comprehensive performance and is widely used in industrial decoration. It is more commonly used to bond metal materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel, copper and aluminum, and is also used for electronic product packaging, mechanical equipment maintenance, mold making, etc.
Polyurethane: It has good compatibility with a variety of organic compounds, can form a soft-hard transition layer between different adhesives, has low bonding internal stress, is fatigue-resistant, aging-resistant, and has excellent low-temperature strength. It is used for bonding rubber to metal, fabric, as well as bonding metal, fiberglass, glass, wood, plastic, etc.
Advantages of Structural Adhesive
High strength: Passing strict mechanical tests, it is designed for long – term load – bearing structures. It can firmly bond different materials and withstand large loads.
Excellent durability: Structural adhesive can be used stably for a long time in harsh environments, such as being resistant to high and low temperatures, moisture, and chemical corrosion.
Strong impact resistance: It can withstand a certain amount of impact force and is not easily detached or damaged by external impacts.
Wide bonding range: It is suitable for bonding between the same or different materials such as metals, ceramics, plastics, rubbers, and woods.
